Embroidery vs Printing: Which for Your Workwear?

Published 2026-08-25

Both decorate uniforms well — the right choice depends on the garment, the logo and how hard the clothing is worn.

Embroidery

  • Durable — survives hundreds of washes; ideal for shirts, jackets, caps.
  • Premium look — tactile, professional, great for left-chest logos.
  • Best for — corporate uniforms, hospitality, tradie shirts.

Printing (screen / DTG)

  • Colour & detail — handles complex, multi-colour logos cheaply.
  • Best for — aprons, tees, large back graphics, casual wear.
  • Note — can crack or fade faster than embroidery on heavy-use items.

Quick rule of thumb

Uniforms that get washed constantly → embroidery. Promo and casual items with big logos → print. Many businesses use both. See our corporate branding guide for placement ideas.
